Detailed Site Consultation

Before we talk numbers, we want to understand what you're actually trying to achieve. Not just the square footage and the timeline, but how the space needs to work for your customers, your staff, and your operations. What's not working about your current setup. What your opening date is tied to: a lease start, a marketing campaign, or a seasonal window. Whether you have drawings already or you're starting from scratch. We'll visit the site with you. We want to see the space, understand the access constraints, check what the landlord has approved, and identify anything that could affect the programme or the cost before we put a number in front of you.

Design and Planning

If your project requires planning permission, we manage the application. We handle the drawings, the submissions, the responses to planning queries, and the approval process. You don't need to manage that relationship. We'll also be working through the technical details during this phase, finalising materials, confirming fixtures and fittings, placing orders for long-lead items, and agreeing the construction programme with you. If your project is in a managed retail environment, we'll coordinate with the shopping centre or landlord to obtain method statements and confirm working hours before we mobilise.

Build and Handover

On day one of on-site works, your Site Manager will walk you through the programme week by week, what's happening, in what order, and what you'll see at each stage. You'll have their direct number. You won't have to chase a main office to find out what's happening on your site. As the build progresses, we'll invite you for regular site walks. Not to fill your diary, but because clients who see the project developing in stages are far less likely to reach practical completion and find something they don't like. We'd rather fix a concern at the point where it's easy to fix than hear about it on handover day. After handover, you'll have a 12-month defects liability period. If anything fails that's within the scope of our work, we come back and fix it

Retail construction is a unique discipline
While many general construction contractors can build a shell, few truly comprehend what retail requires. Your space must function from day one. The layout must guide customers through the store. The finishes must adhere to brand standards to the millimetre. Your program must align with your lease start date, marketing plan, and staffing schedule. If something goes wrong during the build process, it needs to be fixed immediately, not explained away. This is the world we operate in. We have learned what retailers need from two decades of delivering projects under real pressure and with deadlines that were not flexible.

We work as retailers do
Many of our clients are managing multiple priorities simultaneously. They don’t have time to chase contractors for updates or re-explain their brief three times. Therefore, we won’t make them. Each project has a single point of contact, a senior project manager who knows your brief, your brand standards and your constraints. He will proactively update you, identify problems early and provide honest answers about timeline and cost, not just what you want to hear. What actually exists.

Additionally, most retail projects take place in occupied buildings. Your store may still be open. Shopping centres typically have strict hours of operation. Noise restrictions apply to adjacent tenants. We have dealt with each of these issues. Operating in live environments is not something we manage around. It is how we typically operate.

What we actually deliver
We handle new builds, full refurbishments, extensions and interior fit-outs. When it comes to fit-outs (interior) that means everything from first fix m/e thru joinery, flooring, lighting, signage and snagging. We do not pass off to other teams at a complicated stage; we see it through.

For retailers with multiple locations, we run rollout programs across concurrent sites. Our central program team coordinates schedules, manages the supply chain, and maintains quality standards across all locations. Regardless of whether you’re opening two stores or twenty, the standard does not drop.

How long does a retail fit-out typically take?

A standard retail fit-out runs 6–14 weeks, depending on the scope. A straightforward 2,000 sq ft shopfit can be done in six weeks. Full strip-out, structural works, and high-specification fit-outs take longer. We'll give you a programme at the quote stage.

Can you work while the store is trading?

Yes. We regularly operate in live retail environments, working out of hours, in phased sections, or behind temporary partitions. We'll agree on a working method that protects your revenue and your customers' experience.

Do you specialise in supermarket construction?
